                        APPA is the service organization representing the more than 2,000 municipal and other state and locally owned electric utilities throughout the United States.

 

Ÿ         Registered congressional lobbyist on matters affecting the electric utility industry, including restructuring.

 

Ÿ         Lobby congressional representatives on appropriations matters pertinent to APPA goals.

 

Ÿ         Direct coalition development and grassroots outreach with groups like AARP, CFA, Unions, NLC, NCSL, NGA, NaCo, ICMA, ETC.

 

Ÿ         Lobby congressional representatives on issues focusing on telecommunications, market power concerns, anti trust, renewable energy, captive rail shipping, spent nuclear fuel and low-income home energy assistance programs.

 

Ÿ         Authored Politics That Works, a primer for our 2,000 members, which addresses building strategic alliances and grassroots legislative campaigns.

 

Ÿ         Government Relations Representative with duties relating to community bridge building, interacting with grassroots organizations, making presentations to governmental bodies and national organizations like the Urban League, NAACP and others.

  

Ÿ          Lobbying Congress, fostering new relations with governmental bodies and private concerns, and long-range planning.
